I think I will go for a combination. If I do what you have done for the flight stand and also drill a hole at the centre of the + for a long metal rod I should have the best of both worlds. I like higher stands for my aircraft just to make it easier to get under it to move ground forces but the flying base will fit better in my display cabinet.

Looking forward to getting the beast on the table ;)

Progress :)

Some minor filling so sanding required then looking good for priming on the weekend.

The Barracuda's main guns are magnetised along with the turrets but the Tiger Shark is a magnet free zone...

That was quick, I still don't have one 'Cuda assembled

Come on AA - catch up ;)

There are still the little bits to do but I am determined to spray it on the weekend so I am cracking along as fast as the glue/filler dries.

In my defense, I did not have a complete fuselage until last night.

I will also be out of town this weekend, so you're going to get further ahead.

Are you planning to keep your split camouflage design for these, or are you going to try some higher-altitude camo?

I plan to keep the same camouflage scheme on all my flyers just for consistency plus my old 'Cuda is already in that scheme.

According to the fluff, the Tiger Shark AX-1-0 is designed to take on heavy armour so it would be more of a low-level flyer so the camouflage would help it to blend in from fighters at higher levels .... that is my story anyway ;)

Any chance you could put a picture up of the old Barracuda next to the new ones for a size comparison as they look huge next to that Tiger shark.... Also the speed at which you put them together is commendable and mighty impressive!

Check out this page for a size comparison. They're a little more slender but otherwise almost identical in size to the original.

Thats really handy, was just considering that as I read through the thread. Naturally very envious of the flying goodies :)

The priming is done. I have used Mask-fx for the splinter pattern but have not removed it yet as it makes highlighting the green easier.

Busy, busy, busy... Loads to do :)

Very nice! I'm also not sure on the AX designation of the original Barracuda. It'd be interesting to find out.

Great update, can only dream of such models in my collection - then the years it would take for me to acutally paint them! haha.

I'm with Tael in his sentiment; too many models, so little time. And here El'mo is just smashing through giant flocks of flyers. Geesh.

Jood Gob BTW!

I'm still waiting for magnets to get here so I can finish my 'Cuda. I'll probably do something temporary to get it painted and working.

I have not started the 'Cuda detailing yet but am concentrating on the Tiger shark at the moment.

Photos of the current state later :)

Thanks guys - I had to start clearing out my painting backlog so after the company of SM it was time for Tau. ;)

The splinter camouflage is done along with the low-vis grey belly. Just leaves the detailed work and the weapons to do.
The cockpit has been removed to make the interior detailing easier.

I am planning on hopefully being completed by next weekend or mid week after then I will be starting on the Barracudas.

Nice work. I do like the split camouflage and with my colour scheme being so light I pretty much had to with a very dark grey underbelly for night fighting. It's all a bit world war 2 but it suits Tau flyers so well!
