Well there is no arguing with that :D

Eagerly awaiting the Ghostkeel. Your work is quite inspirational (and award winning too ;))

Haha. See, I kinda like that.

Not to denigrate your choice of green by the way. Your Tau are quite the inspiration for me. Everything is so crisp and professional. Plus the way you combine the drab military colors with the blue glow from the suits' engines and anti-grav... doodles... is really stunning. I tried to replicate the glow but I just couldn't get it to look right.

I return after years of lurking just to say your models are phenomenal.
I knew from the moment I saw your Fireblade (at 5am last night) that there was a Golden Demon standard painter approaching...
Can I beg you for advice? On those beautiful gradients all the armour plates on your tau have, for instance?

Perisfal, your color scheme is very, very similar to one of the ones I'd love to do. However, I just can't quite figure out how to pull it off so nicely. Would you be so kind as to list what colors your use - and perhaps even do a tutorial someday on how you do it?

@ O'rioles: I do not planning any tutorial about my blue glow. Colors for it are on this thread. Try to copy some point from the back of riptide. There are big circles on the sides of legs and it is nice showcase how to place highlights.

@ catland88: Welcome back! Look at building of the Crisis Suit and the Riptide. There are some hints for that in the texts. In short, airbrush and blending.

@ Orpheus Hangar: same advice as for catland88, please look at the start of the thread. A lots of progress photo and used colors you can find there.

And for the my new XV95. Cleaning is done. Black basecoat is done. Some airbrushing of greys is planned for next days :) Sorry no progress photo for now, all parts are simply black :)

The Ghostkeel is completely basecoated. After many hours of cleaning and preparing it is time for the fun! :)
Drone on the left side has some parts painted as a warm up for me. Drone on the right is only basecoated as rest. Yea, no green on this model ;)

How did you get that effect, taped off areas with an airbrush?

However you did it, it looks great, and will really make the Ghostkeel stand out from the rest of your force.

That's brutal! I really love your style and your miniatures, and it's in these cases when I want to repaint my minis (and buy an airbrush). Fantastic work, I'd love to see that ghostkeel finished.

your skills with a brush and an airbrush are commendable!

Is that german grey airbrushed over a black undercoat?

Thanks!

It is Vallejo Black Primer, Vallejo Dark Grey, GW Codex Grey and final GW Fortress Grey mixed with small amount of white. Every color sprayed on smaller area then previous. I§m not good with airbrush and I'm very lazy to use masking tape, so on some places are mistakes. It will be repaired with brush as a first step on that parts.

I've just read through this whole thread (newbie here!) and I think I'm stating the obvious when I say that you are one of the greatest painters there is, never mind the ATT

Your work is sublime, I'm still in awe of your Commander and Kroot models - REALLY looking forward to progress on your Ghostkeel! :D

Very nice sir! I've come to enjoy the smooth gradients that a airbrush supplies paired with sharp highlights. Infinity players call this the Gerhaldez method after the Infinity studio painter Angel Gerhaldez.

I've been doing something similar with my ghostkeels. I tried to do some stenciling (since I don't think its lazy at all) but was having trouble getting a good effect. You sir have done a far superior job to my own!

It's really shaping up very nicely, Persifal. There is only one little thing that doesn't click me properly, but I don't know if it's a deliberate stylistic choice or not, it's the highlights of the black areas, they seem too bright (too much white) to me. It's a valid choice, mind me, but if you were going to just highlight black (and not give it a TRON style glow), a bit more grey wouldn't have hurt.

Shadow Strike wrote:Infinity players call this the Gerhaldez method after the Infinity studio painter Angel Gerhaldez.

It's Giraldez, not Gerhaldez (it makes he seem german when he is spanish. I may seem nitpicky, but being spanish myself, that misspelling hurts too much for comfort. Sorry  )
