I do like the color layout and the theme of the Aircraft. Bright colors, especially blue, green, teal and such look good on big surfaces.
The suits and fire warriors are nice as well.

It is visible that you made more progress and the paintjob is MUCH better then the miniatures above. Its cleaner and shows better what part of the model is what. Much improvement when compared to those two Infinity miniatures, which - I will be honest with you, not trying to rude or anything - look like non recognizable blurry mesh of colors with no clear outlines where one part of the model ends and the other begins. (btw, I too am a fan of those two, I have the samurai girl, and want to order a bunch of Reverend Moiras and Custodiers eventually. Good choice on the model m8 ;) ).

Keep up the good work, we all we´ve been there. With more painted miniatures and time the quality of the paint job will increase and so will your own satisfaction with a job well done !
I remember my first miniatures (Uruk Hai scouts from Lotr tabletop) were 3 colors paint job that looked like Leatherface clad in wooden trench coat... ah good old times :D .... need to repaint those eventually, my eyes burn and shed blood whenever I accidentally take a glance at them :D

I don't have a steady hand at all. To paint edges, I put my brush towards the middle of the surface I want to paint, and my hand shakes painting up to the edge line I want to hit. This works out really well on Games Workshop models as they all have large flat armor pieces and not a ton of detail. Infinity models have a crazy amount of detail, that frankly speaking, I don't have the hand control to do justice to. Hence why my infinity models are kind of a blurry mess (although part of that is my poor pictures). Karen (the one with the sword) does look really good in person. With Illia (the sniper), I basically gave up on the detail work on the chest because I just don't have the fine motor control. Illia looks fine from a distance though, which is really all I need on the table top.

Anywho... Onto the long promised Riptide Fluff

Shas'vre Akul Aun'Taal Oni'Dan - Riptide Pilot Covering Fish Jump

Oni'Dan begin her illustrious military career by being held back several years in the fire caste academy. When she was finally deployed it was only with great hesitation and she was assigned to the highly admired "Overwatch Squad" tactical group that was deployed as far as possible from any enemy forces where they could simply watch the battle from a safe distance (in an attempt to minimize friendly fire upon other groups of firewarriors in the hunter cadre). It was among these distinguished tau marksmen that she quickly gained the reputation of being the undisputable worst marksman of the entire cadre, most likely the worst in the entire contingent, and if you really thought about it, likely the worst marksman in the entire empire. Though most of her comrades would agree she was still probably a better shot than an ork... although only marginally. Thus she gained her first name Shas'ui Oni'Oi, Private Covering Sparks (because her aim wasn't even good enough to be called covering fire).

Her squad did see a reasonable amount of combat (they were trained fire warriors after all), but they were primarily used to distract smaller non-threatening units that attempted to flank the main cadre. Even for all of her combat ineptitude, Oni'Oi soon found herself the de-facto leader of the Overwatch Squad. This was as a direct result of her aggressively positive outlook on life. No matter how little respect she or her squad mates received she treated never rose to the verbal baits or insults thrown her way. She always held her head up high, after all she was doing everything in her power to further the greater good even if the only thing in her power was to smile.

In fact, upon her suggestion, the Overwatch Squad went through the bonding knife ritual much earlier than most other firewarrior squads would even consider it. It seemed obvious to her that since everyone else didn't respect them right now they just needed to respect each other more to make up for it until the rest of the army finally came around. Within several years the Overwatch Squad did earn the grudging respect of the rest of the Cadre. They never became a valid combat threat and Oni'Oi was frequently showed up by the freshest of rookies, but that didn't matter. It turns out you usually don't need to be an actual combat threat if you can convince the enemy you're a threat. At first they just had the opportunity to take some pots shots at a handful of Gue'la. Then it was a squad or two of Gue'la. After a couple of years they found themselves holding off a platoon or two. Before she knew it the Overwatch Squad was a heavily relied upon linchpin of the Cadre, in ideal situations (usually urban) they could stall the advance of companies of Gue'la allowing the rest of the Cadre to swing around and hit their exposed flank.

It really wasn't as hard as you think really. You find the guy with the biggest, most impressive hat and completely fry his and everyone around his radios with a few well placed EMP grenades. Then you keep his face so far into the dirt with a hail of pulse fire he can't even open his mouth to give orders and then you fill all radio channels with tons of white noise so the Gue'la can just barely hear each other. That way their communications go to a crawl, but it's clear command structure hasn't broken down but so they don't resend the command of the spiffy hat man. Then you keep in constant motion between buildings, and keep taking potshots at anyone who looks to be feeling brave. Top it all off by having your devilfish show itself and flash its lights while you set off some explosions, with all the smoke, its disruption pods and pulsefire flying around at least one idiot will mistake it for a hammerhead and start yelling about it. Now suddenly your 12 firewarriors and a devilfish are being reported as "a whole damn army in every building, supported by a squadron of tanks." By the time they sort out all the reports, the actual force is hitting their flank and ruining their day.

Just to reiterate, this isn't to say any of them were especially effective in combat. In an actual straight up firefight, they ended up being a solid D+. Oni'Oi never actually had an confirmed kills during this phase of her career and her career was about to take an abrupt shift. In the last battle in her career as a firewarrior, the Overwatch Squad was in its usually location in reserve watching over the unfolding battle to see where their particular brand of skill would be required. The Cadre was routing yet another group of Gue'la when a multitude of drop pods plummeted into the advancing tau tanks. Squads of space marines disembarked directly into close combat with the tau cadre and started utterly massacring them. The Overwatch Squad immediately sprung into action, relocating to a hilltop overlooking the bloody melee that had just sprung into existence. There they did what they do best, which was lay down the most suppressing suppressive fire those space marines had ever experienced. Free from the immediate threat that had set upon them the Cadre started retreat.

Then Oni'Oi saw the air literally warp around her and a squad of terminators stepped into existence next to her. To be fair the terminators were almost as surprised as she was, they'd arrived expecting a climactic battle where upon they single handedly destroyed large tau force that mysteriously appeared and thus valiantly saved their brothers who where pinned down below. Instead of that climactic battle there was an exchange that couldn't even be called a scuffle. Oni'Oi found herself contemptuously backhanded through a tree breaking her leg, arm, and several ribs and left for dead. She was extremely lucky, none of the rest of her squad, nor cadre survived the day. She later managed to signal for evac and was returned to Akul to recover.

Once she was physically recovered she was promoted to shas'vre and set to lead a crisis team. However, it quickly became obvious that her aggressively positive mood had not survived the encounter with the space marines, and had been replaced with an almost contagious depression and rage. As a result she made no attempt a interact with her new squadmates and her reflexes suffered horribly. She was quietly transferred back to be part of a home security force on Akul. It was here that her named changed to Oni'Da (covering darkness). After a couple of years and only slight recovery her path crossed with Twin Inquisitors Karen and Illia Verena when they crashed upon Akul. Shortly thereafter she saw her first combat in years with the demonic invasion as a direct result of that crash. Oni'Da and the twins were among the few that survived the initial assault on the capital, and managed to hold out until her brother arrived with evac for them and the Ethereal Aun'Tash.

It was the Ethereal's sincere words of thanks upon saving his life that finally cracked open her wall of depression. After all, what tau can be unhappy while they're being so directly praised by an ethereal? Over the coarse of the war, she managed to fairly normalize her moods although they never quite returned to the heights of when she was in the academy. She also grew into a competent battlesuit pilot, her terrible aim mitigated somewhat by the suits high-tech aiming systems and overshadowed by her innate skill distracting enemies and drawing them away from more important objectives they should have been focusing on. Her brother Shas'o Akul J'Korst'Kha noticed her skill in this area and, upon the creation of the Akul Contingent, used his political clout to have her trained as his riptide pilot. A position where she has done exceptionally well.

Shas'vre Akul Aun'Taal Oni'Dan's current name as riptide Pilot Ethereal Preserver Covering Fish Jump is a direct result of Karen's questionable grasp of the tau language. She would always pronounce the name as "Oni'Dan" instead of "Oni'Da" despite everyone's constant, repeated attempts to clarify the difference for Karen. So partly to reduce the confusion in conversations between all parties not familiar with that situation and because it was commonly agreed the new riptide pilot had outgrown Oni'Da her named was changed.

You know. I didn't think my painting backlog was nearly big enough. Figured I should stretch it out a little more.

i just finished spray painting all those models I just bought. I sat down to paint and just wasn't in the mood. So I decided to try and do some conversions on my new Shas'o model to make him stand apart from other tau commanders. I'm extremely pleased how he turned out.

Image

He's magnitized and the weapon that I mount on his left shoulder will be able to shoot over his head past the shield.

Image

Also note my slightly tweaked ethereal model. I gave him a pulse pistol and a firewarrior arm guard to make him look less like a figurehead and like he's here to take names.

Image

Lastly I'm planning on doing some slight modifications on my y'vahras and imperial knight so it looks like they're being created from warp energy (because in my fluff they're basically demons created by my inquisitor illia) and the space marine is going to be who I test my paint scheme on.

Did anyone see my riptide's fluff on the last page? Just curious to know what people thought of it.

Just need to highlight and base him. Played a game with him last week. I was hesitant to put him on such a large base (larger bases are generally considered worse), but I actually ended up preferring it. I use him as a tankmander and it is easier to soak up multiple wounds from more directions with a bigger base. Totally unintentional but satisfying.

Awesome shade of blue and great use of Infinity models. Also love the "car door" shield.

Thanks. :D

I've got an escalation tournament coming up in a couple weeks. Hopefully that will motivate me to finish up painting some of my models. Until then... MORE FLUFF.

Whenever my characters are slain in battle, Illia is waiting for their souls in the warp. Whereupon she'll scoop them up and protect them until that person's body (or a replacement) can be brought into her pocket of the warp. Whereupon said soul will be reinserted into its body, and presto! functional immortality. This doesn't have a perfect success rate obviously, so the Akul Contingent will want to keep casualties to a minimum to avoid the threat of losing anyone. In addition, Illia can keep people's bodies at prime age in her pocket of the warp (since the warp transcends space time and she has limited control over that).

^^This is my explaination for why even though every model in my army has been injured/killed at least half a dozen times they're still around. Also as to why while constantly flying around in imperial space picking fights with everyone, they're still able to pick even more fights without reinforcements despite constant casualties.

Also, Illia is now strong enough (yay cultist worship!) that she can manifest major daemons of herself in the real world occasionally.
^^This is my explanation for my y'vahras and imperial knight

Shas'el Akul Eoro'D'Yanoi'Seri Oni'Dan'Ye - Commander Moonlight

Eoro - To Lead/Guide
D - Twin
Yanoi - Moon
Seri - a ray of light

Literally Commander from Akul Guiding Twin Rays of Moonlight and Daughter of Oni'Dan.

This name is specifically in reference to when she looks at you, it feels like you've been walking blind along a path in the middle of the night and the clouds have just parted so you can see the path again because the moon is so vivid in the sky.

El'Eoro'D'Yanoi'Seri is the daughter of Vre'Oni'Dan and Aun'Tash. This fact is only know by the two of them, Karen, Illia, and O'J'Korst'Kh, while the rest of the contingent just know that she's Oni'Dan's daughter. Aun'Tash has always been more of liberal as far as his stances go, and constantly spending years abroad from the Tau Empire fighting nightmares have only exacerbated this. Years of being scolded for his radicalism in his younger years, followed by constant skepticism/opposition when he does return home has not exceptionally endeared him to the rest of his caste. One of the trips through space he decided he wanted a kid, and as he is the sole Ethereal leading the Akul Contingent, his options to proceed in that path included only non-ethereals.

As a half-breed El'Eoro'D'Yanoi'Seri is physically much closer to her mother, but is still very small in stature and build for a member of the fire caste. So to only a casual glance (or to most non-tau) she can pass as a member of the fire caste. However, she tends to carry herself that unquantifiable air of authority similar to her father. She doesn't have the ability to command the instant obedience of other tau like a true ethereal, although she can do a good jedi mind-trick impression when she has direct eye-contact. More importantly to her position in the Akul Contingent she is basically immune to ethereals' influences as a result of being part ethereal herself and the only ethereal she dealt with while growing up being her father (no psychological or indoctrinated conditioning, whichever theory you prefer). In addition (and even more importantly) she is Aun'Tash's primary body guard and advisor. Whenever Aun'Tash goes planet side (even on tau planets), she always accompanies him and will always support him even if a group of Ethereals tell her to stand down. In addition she is one of the handful members of the contingent with a direct link to him during battle. Although this is more to shelter the rest of the contingent from El'Eoro'D'Yanoi'Seri's opinions as she frequently questions or opposes his opinions, which isn't something the rest of the contingent needs to be explicitly aware of.

El'Eoro'D'Yanoi'Seri started off among the ranks of the pathfinders and bounced around several squads before being promoted. Partly due to her success and innate leadership, but partly due to the fact she just didn't mesh well with any of her comrades. She refused the offer to pilot a crisis suit and instead opted to pilot a stealth suit. Here among other "eccentric" members of the contingent El'Eoro'D'Yanoi'Seri truly flourished. Being a vital part of the sabotage and ambush tactics that the contingent prefers to combat while being a sounding board to the leadership of the contingent, she earned the respect of all the reclusive stealth team leaders in a way no one else in the contingent could. She is currently the head of the stealth cadre and lead pilot of the contingent's ghostkeel in addition to her role as Aun'Tash's body guard.

Posted how I did them into a tutorial too - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=24724

Now those models only need some touch-ups, highlights and a layer of hardcoat and they'll be done.

Mostly done with my Ethereal and Ghostkeel now (just in time for my 500 point escalation game tonight). Just need a couple of touch ups/highlights and they'll be done. Which means that now I'm going to work on other stuff because they're basically table-top ready and I'm bored of painting them, so they won't get "finished" for a while. XD

-> My tau are super dark skinned, because I think of Akul as getting extremely minimal amounts of sunlight. Then on top of that the Akul Contingent spends a vast majority of their time on space ships, which is even less light. Hence, extremely dark skinned. Although, upon writing that I realize that such limited amount of light should make them more pale... hmmmm. Guess I need to think of a new explanation.

Re: Akul Contingent

As of July 7, 2017

So I always record data about the games that I play. I have been since early sixth edition (basically when I started playing). So these are all the canonical engagements of the Akul Contingent. They have faced every enemy other than skitari and sisters of battle.

Each battle is organized as follows -> Engagement # - Enemy - Result - Casualties

For casualties I do a rough guestimation of the models/points in army removed, then note any named characters that were removed as casualties too

Minimal/Light is >15% casualties
Mild Losses 15-40% casualties
Heavy 40-75% casualties
Horrifying/Extreme 75+% casualties

1 - Chaos Space Marines - Horrifying Loss - Extreme Casualties
Note: One of my first games with my army. Enemy brought a helldrake when they were at their peak power. It utterly blew through my army and single-handedly almost tabled me.

2 - Chaos Space Marines - Crushing Victory - Minimal Casualties
Note: Played the same person immediately after my first loss, except I gave my broadsides skyfire and they shot down the helldrake immediately after it arrived on the battlefield.

3 - Imperial Guard - Tactical Loss - Minimal Casualties
Note: My favorite game of warhammer. Enemy brought over 100 infantry models to a 1000 point game (no tanks at all), almost all completely un-upgraded. The following video is what I think about every time I think about the game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ3bzg-Tvt4

He ended the game with <10 models on the table... scattered over a majority of the objectives in the midfield, so I lost on points. We both had a complete blast, and it was the most fluffy game I've ever experienced and I learned a ton.

4 - Imperial Guard - Crushing Victory - Minimal Casualties (Vre'Oni'Dan wounded)
5 - Grey Knights/Space Wolves - Tactical Victory - Moderate Losses (Vre'Oni'Dan wounded)
6 - Space Marines - Tactical Victory - Slight Casualties
7 - Space Marines - Tactical Victory - Zero Casualties
8 - Tau - Tactical Victory - Mild Casualties
9 - Space Marines - Enemy Tabled - Mild Casualties (O'J'Korst'Kha, El'Mesa'Raik wounded)
10 - Necrons - Slight Tactical Victory - Moderate Casualties (El'Mesa'Raik wounded)
11 - 5v1 against eldar - Tactical Victory - Moderate Losses
12 - Imperial Guard - Turn 2 game end, extremely probable victory - minimal casualties - (Karen, Illia wounded)
13 - Imperial Guard/Imperial Fists - Tactical Tie - Heavy Losses - (O'J'Korst'Ka, Vre'Oni'Dan wounded)
14 - Tyranids - Slight Tactical Victory, enemy almost tabled - mild losses (Vre'Oni'Dan, Karen, Illia wounded)
15 - Tyranids - Tabled turn 3 - minimal losses
16 - Tau (Farsight) - Table Turn 3 - minimal losses
17 - Orks, planetstrike game - Crushing Loss - Extreme Casualties (Only Vre'Oni'Dan and an immobilized devilfish survived)
Note: For some reason I struggle more against orks than any other race, which amuses me because I thought this was supposed to be a good match-up for us and that they're widely considered to be under-powered.

18 - Space Wolves, planetstrike - Slight Tactical Victory - Mild Casualties (O'J'Korst'Ka down)
Note: My opponent ran a drop-pod with relentless plasma units escorted by Logan before he became a Lord of War. My first experience with the hurt that drop pods could bring, it single-handedly killed my commander and his crisis suits first turn. My opponent really liked this death ball unit and considered it to be amazingly strong.

19 - Space Wolves - Slight Victory - Heavy Losses (Vre'Oni'Dan, Karen, Illia, Tank Commander wounded)
Note: Same player as previous game. This game I deployed my entire army spread out to maximum cohesion in one corner of the board and bubble wrapped it all with kroot. His drop-pod unit came down and could only shoot through kroot and only hit one model per blast of plasma completely invalidating them. My opponent is still salty about this experience to this day and routinely tells people I play a boring gun-line army, despite the fact that I try to make my army lists as mobile and non-gunline as possible, as a result of this game.

20 - Eldar - Draw - Light Casualties (Karen wounded)
Note: Due to a miscommunication, I thought we had time for another turn and was moving my units into position to pounce on several objectives next turn. In addition I had completely destroyed his back-line and midfield while his assault units were tar-pitted. Thus instead of springing onto objectives I moved more defensively. Would have easily won if the game continued, but it didn't.

21 - Space Wolves - Strong Victory - Mild Losses
22 - Daemons (nurgle) - Slight Victory - Mild Losses (Karen and Illia wounded)
23 - Chaos Space Marines - Strong Victory - Mild Losses
24 - Space Wolves - Strong Victory - Mild Losses (Karen wounded)
25 - Orks - Tactical Disaster - At games end, my warlord was locked in combat with one wound left. Every other model was dead. (Karen, Illia, Tank, Vre'Oni'Dan wounded)
Note: Bah, Orks. Turns out getting mass assaulted turn 2 is really bad. The funniest part of this game was that it was immediately clear to both of us that I had lost by the end of turn 2. To keep things interesting we both agreed that the new "objective" of the game should be to see if I could keep my warlord alive. We came to this agreement in a completely non-verbally way, speaking to each other just through how we moved our units and our target priority. We never mentioned it to each other, but we both knew that was what the point of the game now was. It was amazing.

26 - Imperial Guard - Close Defeat - Heavy Losses (Vre'Oni'Dan, O'J'Korst'Ka, Karen, Illia wounded)
27 - Imperial Guard - Table Turn 4 - Minimal Losses (Tank Down)
28 - Space Marines - Tactical Victory - Light Losses (Tank, Oni'Dan down)
29 - Dark Angels - Narrow Loss - Medium Losses (Tank, Onidan down)
30 - Space Marines - Crushing Victory - Negligible Losses
31 - Dark Angels - Crushing Victory - Light Losses (Vre'Oni'Dan Down)
32 - Assisting Apoc Game - Tie - Karen wounded
Note: Two people were testing their team tournament list and were playing against newer guy. They were utterly crushing the poor guy. Before they started they asked me if I had wanted to join in, but I try to avoid team games when possible and was painting instead. However, they asked me a second time if I wanted to deploy a small force from reserve to help the new guy (he was clearly about to be tabled) in an attempt to salvage the game from its current stomp fest. They were an aggressive assault army, and all over the other guys (and my deployment zone). Just walking in with a paltry 500-750ish army against an almost unhurt >2000k would do nothing. Instead, I brought almost all suits and kroot and outflanked/deep-struck into their backfield/flank while leaving my ally to his fate. It was Emperor's Will, and I managed to crush the paltry force defending their objective and hold it down against the onslaught that turned to face me. On the other end of the board, my tactical strike had re-leaved enough pressure from my ally that he managed to keep his warlord alive and the game ended in a tie - Objective/First Blood/Line Breaker vs Objective/Slay the Warlord/Line Breaker.

33 - Space Marines - Crushing Victory - Light Losses (Illia Down)
34 - Iron Hands Ally vs Daemons/Dark Angels - Tactical Victory - Heavy Losses (Karen, Illia, O'J'Korst'Ka, Vre'Oni'Dan, Tank wounded)
35 - Chaos Space Marines - Tactical Victory - Heavy Losses (Vre'Oni'Dan, Tank wounded)
36 - Grey Knights/Chaos - Tactical Victory - Minimal Losses
37 - Space Wolves - Crushing Victory - Horrifying Losses (Vre'Oni'Dan wounded)
38 - Space Marines - Tactical Victory - Minor Losses
39 - Dark Angels/Daemons - Tactical Victory, Mild Losses (tank)
40 - Space Marines - Crushing Defeat - Horrible Losses (O'J'Korst'Ka, Oni'Dan, Karen, Illia, Tank wounded)
41 - Space Wolf - Tie - High Losses (Tank, Illia, Oni'Dan)
42 - Grey Knight Ally vs Space Wolves and Imperial Knight - Loss (10-9)
Note: Game was really frustrating. My team mate did basically nothing, meaning the game was more or less 1000K vs 2000K. Then in another miscommunication I thought I had another turn so I didn't make a run for objectives at the end of turn 4 and they just walked over and grabbed some so I lost in points at the end of turn 4 while being in a position to contest several of them. This is why I avoid team games.

43 - Space Wolves - Relic held, opponent called game turn 3 - Minimal Losses
44 - Space Wolves 1000k - Table - Light Losses
45 - Space Wolves - Tie Game - Heavy Losses (O'j'Korst'Ka, Oni'Dan wounded)
46 - Space Wolves - Victory - Mild Losses
47 - Blood Angels - Victory - Mild Losses (tank wounded)
48 - Space Wolf Ally vs Tyrannids/Genestealer Cult - Victory - Mild Losses (tank)
49 - Iron Hands - Tie - Heavy Losses (Oni'Dan, Illia wounded)
50 - Iron Hands - Tie - Massive Losses (Oni'Dan, Illia wounded)
51 - Blood Angels - Turn 7 Table - Heavy Losses (Oni'Dan, tank wounded)
52 - Space Wolves - Crushing Victory - mild losses
53 - Iron Hands - Table - Light losses
54 - Dark Eldar - Tactical Victory - Mild Losses (Illia, El'Eoro'D'Seri'T'Yanoi wounded)
55 - Tau - Crushing Victory - Mild Losses (El'Eoro'D'Seri'T'Yanoi wounded)
56 - Space Wolves - Table - minimal losses
57 - Eldar - Tactical Victory - extreme losses (O'J'Korst'Ka, El'Eoro'D'Seri'T'Yanoi wounded)
58 - Orks - Extreme Tactical loss - minimal casualties
Note: This game was winnable but the dice gods frowned heavily upon me. Playing with the new flier rules. So I had 2+ to have reserve comes in. Turn 2, both my stealth suits squads with homing beacons don't come in. So my retribution cadre deep strikes in and everything scatters everywhere specifically the broadsides and my warlord's death ball both mishap (broadsides die, warlord goes into ongoing). Curse you 2.8% odds of snake eyes!!!!

59 - Eldar - Tactical Victory - Heavy Casualties (Karen, Illia Wounded)
Note: Opponent was a newer player, brought a wraith knight in a 950 point game (which he told me pre-list build). This game was super rough. Still managed to get his wraithknight down to one wound. Managed to fail a WC2 power using 4, then 5, then 5 dice (allied harliquinns heroes path), any of which almost certainly done the final wound to have killed the thing. He also passed 5-7 of 5++ saves on it while and I managed to fail two 3++ saves. -.-

60 - Blood Angels - Tactical Victory - Mild Casualties (Oni'Dan, Illia wounded)
61 - Space Marines/Imperial Guard 2v1 - Crushing victory - minor losses

66 - Necrons - Crushing Defeat - heavy losses (El'Eoro'D'Seri'T'Yanoi, tank, vre'oni'dan wounded)
67 - Orcs - Extremely Narrow Defeat - Extreme Losses (O'J'Korst'Ka, Tank, El'Eoro'D'Seri'T'Yanoi, Illia, Aun'Tash wounded)

You have been putting in some serious game time, hideously jealous. It was a while back, but I get you on the painting back log issue - so many models put together so little time to paint them all!

Going to grab a pech'caffe and read through your summarised reports :)

Ample time to play warhammer 40k. One of the many benefits of being currently unemployed. >.<
I'm enjoying that aspect while I can. Escalation league has been motivating me to get through some of that backlog. Finished up my sniper drone team and some weapons I had been extremely unmotivated to do. I'll be posting my final 2k list here in a couple of weeks.

Now if only I could think of some way to increase that backlog. Hmmm....

I had all these coldstar bits lying around and a crisis suit sprue and I was just like. You know what, I want to use the coldstar Battlesuit. The oversized propulsion looks good, also looks like he should turn into a smear when he fails his grounding checks (as happens in game) unlike the commander suit. Going to magnetize him in case we get more weapon options in a future codex. Very excited to paint him. Will get more/better photos of him when I'm done painting him.

Here's my final 2000k point escalation league army that I 4-0d with. Almost everything has the majority of it painted although a lot of it still needs highlighted. Hunter Cadre with Command and Optimized Stealth Cadre and almost completely WYSIWYG.

Here's my deployment in the last game.

Some cool photos I took in recent games.

Note: My favorite game of warhammer. Enemy brought over 100 infantry models to a 1000 point game (no tanks at all), almost all completely un-upgraded. The following video is what I think about every time I think about the game.

and that, my friends, is how the Imperium wages war.

"You don't have a gun!? That's okay!! Just pick up the one of the dead guy in front of you, the emperor will protect!!"
"um, but um, sir... didn't you tell all the guys with the guns that the emperor would protect them as well?"
"Of course! the Emperor protects us all!"
"then, um, sir.... why is there a dead guy in front of me with a gun?"

Then on top of that the Akul Contingent spends a vast majority of their time on space ships, which is even less light. Hence, extremely dark skinned. Although, upon writing that I realize that such limited amount of light should make them more pale... hmmmm. Guess I need to think of a new explanation.

Cosmic radiation?

There aren't many horde armies in the area I play it which is truly kind of unfortunate. I really miss playing against infinity swarms instead of lots of power armor and tanks.

AH! My tau spend a rather large portion of their time traveling around the warp. Obviously that's just started affecting them. Extra points as it also explains why other Tau aren't particularly trusting of them. Thanks! Your comment was what sparked this thought process.

Fair is fair, your log has given me a lot to think about as well.
