Falsegod's Cadre Building Log

Greetings,

I have only just begun my Tau collection, and have only a handful of fully finished models. As outlined in my Cadre building post I expect to progress rather slowly as I have several hobby projects all of which take up their share of my free time. On top of that I have no real deadline, so I intend to enjoy myself. I currently have one Piranha 100% finished (planning on buy a second one soon), a Pathfinder team fully assembled and partly painted. I am in the process of assembling a Firewarrior squad and XV-8 team. My effort will probably be spread around these projects depending on a how I feel when I sit down at the table. I figure this log will be good way to track my progress and share my work as I think it will be at least a few months before my Tau hit the table in any strength. Suggestions, comments and questions are welcome. Thank you.

-------

XV8 Battlesuit
My first Crisis suit, fully assembled and magnetized. I am pretty happy with the set up, eight magnetization points, two on each arm and two on each jet pod, and will probably keep that set up going forward. I will have to buy more magnets.

TX4 Piranha
Fully painted and magnetized. In the future I will probably install a second magnet on the other side for a second seeker missile. Gun drones are detachable but not magnetized for variants, as Piranha can't take any.

Pathfinders
A selection of the finished Pathfinders: Shas'ui, specialist, and grunt. All specialist are magnetized to take rail-rifles, ion cannons, or pulse carbines.

That is a beautifully crisp army, whites and creams aren't easy to paint either. You are off to a great start here. I really like that you conceal your magnets in greenstuff so that they look smooth when not in use.

Wife was out of town so I spent the evening at the local game store and the inevitable happened:

Painted up the Ethereal from the 'Start Collecting!' box, as a break from working on the Pathfinders and Firewarriors. Pretty pleased with the look. I have an idea for some work on one of my Devilfish, but that will have to wait until I get more magnets. :crafty:

Hi Falsegod's,

Really like the crisp clean look of your Tau, I prefer the 'clean' look for Tau saving most of my weathering for lower tech armies.

Your scenic bases are great, a man after my own heart.

Look forward to seeing more.

Cheers,
Valaas

Looking great, as always. That lichen makes a pretty good bushy ground for them to walk on, like a mossy area or dense foliage underfoot.

Must say that I love the green fluff on the bases, it looks awesome, and so does the color choices. Makes me want to clear the working table and just start assembling my pathfinders and etheral instead.
Great work indeed.

Thanks. The bases are Secret Weapon: Desert Wasteland, and the basing scrub is Woodland Scenic's light green underbrush. Both companies I can recommend very highly.

Looking really nice! I honestly hadn't thought of magnetising pathfinder weapons options... May have to look into that!

What model is the brown basecoated figure in your last picture?
