- Lost access to "bucket" image stack.
- Starting fresh...

- 1000 point Tau spearhead: long strike and 4 TX7

Team game: Sali-Marines and Tau VS RG-Man and Crusade-Marines

Opening rounds, the spearhead did vast amounts of damage to the right flank. C-Marines lost about 40-50% of strength.

But the true test came with RG-Man and the rail "rule".
Rail rule - if you need it to hit, it wont, and wont often.

3 round of rail focus... long strike survives CC with RG-Man and then he falls. I missed 2.5 WHOLE rounds of shooting on him. blows my mind.

Sum: TX7 Spearhead is fun to play, has won 4 games now, and covers a lot of bases. Longstrike is very well built and designed.

Dayum 5 Hammerheads look awesome on the field. I might want to get me some more now. :D

I also like your Rail "Rule". It's commonly called Melta Rule in our group since if you finally manage to get in melta range you usually roll a 1 on the to-wound roll anyway. :D

TX7/LS LL
- 9 inch space bubble with 4 TX7 around LS is strong anti DS. You will lose .5 /1 tank, but you will not lose LS.

- -1 BS to move 12 in reverse, +1 from LS = life. Hit reverse before it is to late. (RG-man is a 12 inch move)

- Both RG munitions are amazing. Frag overwatch, Solid anything tough, split your SMS on light targets with few models, and command point save for RG misses. (That failed 2.5 rounds of shooting was with Command re-roll... I rolled Sooo bad)

- Based on team games, a infantry screen is really nice with our armor. Though not really needed, it lets us rest our butts and shoot at 2's.

- T7 13W, with out a tank opener the TX7 holds up well.

- ALWAYS go FNP on LS as command trait.

- Always keep your TX7's with in 6 inches for buff. But, when it gets mid to late game do not waste time not splitting up. Your tanks can grab OBJ's and still put out hurting. Even full move and buff loss is still 4+. SMS and frag out.

I think the list would do even better with replacing one of the Hammerheads with Pathfinder though. Makes it almost impossible for the enemy to put his reserves close to the tanks and you could even load up on BS2+ Seeker Missiles on all the Hammerheads and get re-roll of 1s even. :D

I'm glad to see the Longstrike squadron gaining traction. I'm building one myself built around the narrative of the Taros style: Pathfinders and XV-15 suits finding a large contingent of enemy units and calling for Hammerhead support.

:-? Where are you getting the +1 to hit? His special rule is OTHER TX7's within 6" IE not himself. He already hits on 2's which is the point.

^ this is right. The +1 to-hit modifier doesn't apply to Longstrike himself.

The rule that says things that provide effect get the effect. PG 179 bottom right of RB. Page 72 Or X2, LS is a TX7. RAW.
Though in Re-reading it, "other" looks like it might break that. Sorry.

Except for the wording of the rule saying

Fire Caste Exemplar: You can add 1 to hit rolls in the Shooting phase for other friendly T’AUSEPT TX7 Hammerhead Gunships within 6".

OTHER friendly. So he is exempt from it.

Drone Controller wasn't buffed.

Friendly <Sept> Drone units within 6" of any models equipped with a drone controller add one to any hit rolls.


Even if you had 100 Drone Controllers, a Drone within range of all of them would still be within 6" of models (emphasis on the plural) equipped with Drone Controllers, thus adding just one to hit rolls for that Drone.

Ya, weird clarification. But still locked with "any", well now two "any's". An odd way to write a max of +1. Even more odd when they FAQ an extra "any" in there.

Based on the success of Fireball V1, V2 has been authorized.

- Coldstar targeting force VS Stealth teams.

V1 success
- Amazing alpha strike
- New drones are separate units is AMAZING if used right. Drones soaking 5 Melta shots, Yes please!
-- Even one drone forces the whole unit to not shoot your commander. All targets are assigned before shots.

- Stealth teams can get you flamer range DS from accross mid board. 8 Move + almost 1 +6 range, + 8 flamer. 23 inches.
- Over all lost 1 stealth team and 5 drones.
- Won 4 Close combats with ATS to space marines. ATS is really good.
- You need ATS to clear marines off ruins.
- Flamers did very well even verse T5-7. ATS again Key.
- Fusion commander is a beast.

Of units tested. Tau are in a great place on the table top. Meta has changed, but we are more than good.

- TX7's are amazing.
- Commanders and coldstars are amazing.
- Drones are amazing.
- XV8s are amazing. Way better then I thought they would be. And stronger.
- tau strategies are Tau like. I feel like I can play Tau like Tau.

- We are as good as we were in 7th if not better. And we have a codex to makes us better.

++ Drones are REALLY good, learn to use them. Body guards are REALLY good too!

--V2 battle test an amazing success.
