Need Help Building a 200pt Tau Kill Team?

I really like the idea of building a Tau Spec Ops Kill Team but I'm unsure what units would be best for the job...

:D Fire Warriors - Solid choice
:nice: Breachers - take 5 and keep moving them up and they'll act as a good threatening bullet magnet.
:? Vespid - Not really sure about this guys however their agility would be a good asset.
 Crisis Suits - Might take 1 with Plasma Rifles for the team leaders but the low model count of a full crisis team is a bit risky.
:? Stealthsuits - These were my original choice but with the new rules not allowing Split fire (as standard) their firepower is limited.

So I'd be grateful for any suggestions or advice on a list for my Tau Spec Ops team?

Lets get the ball rolling with this list....

Kill Team 2
52 - Crisis Suit:
2 Plasma Rifles
100 - 10 Fire Warriors with Missile Pod Turret
45 - 5 Breachers

Not sure about what to do regarding Leader and Specialist with this one, I can drop a Fire Warrior and upgrade one of them to make him the leader allowing my Crisis Suit to take 'Ignore Cover' (outside of Leader Traits). Could go with infiltrate on a Breacher?
Tempted to drop a few fire warriors and take vespid (Jump back fire warriors) instead of Breachers?

So what do you think, feel free to suggest some Tau Kill Team lists (no Kroot though).

So taking cues from what won a local tournament a couple of strong choices are:
Crisis suit with flamers - cheap, more able to hit multiple targets than most and horrific for any opponent depending on assault
Piranha - cheap, mobile and a good amount of firepower. Some kill teams lists lack ranged anti-tank

I have personally found Kroot to be pretty good. The hounds are great fast objective grabbers in Kill Team.

I have a Vespid kill team ready to go but I do not think they are as good as any of the above unless the table is absolutely covered in ruins.

If taking a suit, I'd look at the indomitable traits, FnP and eternal warrior will help it survive without shields or stimms. They're quite the point sink in KT, but worth it, as the lone Lascannon/melta will be aimed at it all game.
If upgrading to the 'Vre, consider taking gun drones.

Alternativly, drop the suit and bring a Devilfish. Free drones, the armour is a hard to deal with in KT games, and suits the special ops idea. the level of manoeuvrability it gives can win out on some of the missions, assuming your playing them.

Other traits, if stuck take executioner (re-roll wounds vs multi-wound). Its part of the dirty fighting, the rest are all CC so normally would be ignored.

What about a Piranha and here's a point; does the Gun Drones generated by Vehicles count towards the model count for Break Tests?

yup, every model, even ones taken as wargear, counts as a separate unit. When attached, the attached drone rules in the codex take over for firing/moving etc, but they are embarked units so count as models for break tests. Makes the Piranha REALLY cheap in KT, as it is three units.

Not sure I follow. The Every Man for Himself rule in Kill Team takes care of this, no?

No, in the recent rules you need to pick the 'Split Fire' skill from the "Weapon Specialist" selection.

Hmm. Well this sucks. I have the iBooks version, which I assumed would be kept current, and that rule states "... each model is treated as a separate unit." Not disputing that there are more recent rules, but where? The "cover" on my copy is the same as what GW is still selling on their website, so I believed mine to be up to date.

I've been wanting version numbers on rulebooks since just about the dawn of time, and once again, here's where it would be nice to have.

+++ Edit +++
Hang on--maybe I misunderstood the original objection. What is split fire? I thought that meant targeting a different model than the rest of the unit (i.e., what Target Lock does in a normal squad), but do you mean targeting a different model with each *shot* (as granted by the Reaping Volley specialization?

Sorry for the confusion, in the old rules you could nominate different targets for one weapon, so I could kill 3-4 guardsmen with one burst cannon. With that gone, the firepower of 6 Stealthsuits are limited especially with the lack of AP.

Totally my misunderstanding! I'm just glad that my ruleset is still current :-)
