'Code Of Fire' Saturation list

Hi guys!!! sorry i've been offline for so long, but I had exams!!!. I've been using my spare time to come up with a rather interesting list using heavy bubblewrapping and lots of pulse weapons. Before I begin, i'm going to explain the intricacies of my list in a bit more detail that that presented in the list.

My army is designed to engage tarets on a relatively terrain-light battlefield. It uses a gunline strategy, with the army meant to advance forwards when possible, and hunker down when not. It is designed with heavy use of pathinders, and lots of infantry-type troops. Basically, it is designed so that the two squads of 10 pathfinders use their 8 markerlight-equipped troops to put 16 counters on approaching high-threat units, and then use those to deliver more accurate attacks attacks from the four strike teams. The strike teams also have shas'ui veterans with markerlights, and as a result can also lend four additional markerlights to the mix. The army is designed so that the pathfinders (ad darkstrider who is one of the HQ Choices) lead the charge, and the strike teams follow behind. Sandwiched inbetween the strike team group and the pathfinders is a pair of fireblades, as a way of providing additional shots. Also in this gap are two pulse accelerator drones to provide additional range.

Behind the strike team is the crisis team, who use both missile pods and cyclic ion blasters (The two shas'ui have 3x missile pod, while the Shas'vre has a pair of CIB and a drone controller). They are meant to provide firepower at medium range, as they are set back from the front. Behind them sit the two Hammerhead tanks, designed to lend heavy support and firepower. One of them is longstrike, and both have railguns to provide either submuntion support or to lend firepower against bigger threats via solid shot.

In addition, a pair of Sun Shark bombers provide air support, acting as anti-charge units. Their objective is to break up enemy lines uning pulse bombs, and also provide Air-to-Ground/Air-To-Air support via their attatched intercpetor drones. Mixed inbetween all of these forces are lot (and I mena lots) of other drones for a very strong, firepower oriented 'hammer-style' battalion, designed to deal as much damage as it can, while also surving any attempt to put the Tau forces into melee.

Anway, here is the list. Enjoy!!!

You have both points and PL listed here, I assume this is for PL then?

PL is less granular than points- some small things have big impacts, and vice versa. So, we need to find places where we can make the less-granular PL system work for us. Let's see what we can do.

First, small Drone units are fairly inefficient. 1PL for two Drones on Fireblades really isn't worth it, given that it yields such a small squad. Likewise, with Fire Warriors, 6PL for 12 Fire Warriors is much better than 10 Fire Warriors + 2 Shield Drones for the same 6PL. Linked up with a Fire Warrior squad, Shield Drones are just Fire Warriors (1W) with no gun, a 5+ save, and the same price. However, what's even better than 12x Fire Warriors is more squads of Fire Warriors, thus getting you more free Missile Pod turrets!

Second, for the Battlesuits, let's make PL work for us- a whole squad with Missile Pods and a bunch of Shield Drones for protection isn't a bad unit at all!

Third and lastly, we definitely want Rail Rifles over Ion Rifles on those Pathfinders- the more expensive upgrade comes for free! Let's see what the list would look like with these changes.

HQ - Cadre Fireblade w/ Markerlight (2PL)
HQ - Cadre Fireblade w/ Markerlight (2PL)
HQ - Longstrike w/ Railgun, 2x SMS, 2x Seeker Missiles (11PL)
Troops - 10x Fire Warriors w/ 1x Markerlight; 1x Support Turret w/ Missile Pod (5PL)
Troops - 10x Fire Warriors w/ 1x Markerlight; 1x Support Turret w/ Missile Pod (5PL)
Troops - 10x Fire Warriors w/ 1x Markerlight; 1x Support Turret w/ Missile Pod (5PL)
Troops - 10x Fire Warriors w/ 1x Markerlight; 1x Support Turret w/ Missile Pod (5PL)
Elites - 3x XV8s w/ 9x Missile Pods; 4x Shield Drones (13PL)
Fast Attack - 10x Pathfinders w/ 7x Markerlights, 3x Rail Rifles (7PL)
Fast Attack - 10x Pathfinders w/ 7x Markerlights, 3x Rail Rifles (7PL)
Heavy Support - Hammerhead Gunship w/ Railgun, 2x SMS; 2x Seeker Missiles (10PL)
Flyer - Sun Shark Bomber w/ 2x Missile Pods; 2x Interceptor Drones (9PL)
Flyer - Sun Shark Bomber w/ 2x Missile Pods; 2x Interceptor Drones (9PL)

Coming in at a nice light 88PL, this gives us room for... you guessed it, a 6PL Commander and some 1PL Drones. And of course, more Fire Warriors- if we're taking two Fireblades, there better be a ton of Fire Warriors to make them worth it.

HQ - Commander w/ 4x Fusion Blasters; 2x Shield Drones (7PL)
Troops - 10x Fire Warriors w/ 1x Markerlight; 1x Support Turret w/ Missile Pod (5PL)

Here's the final list:

-

HQ - Commander w/ 4x Fusion Blasters; 2x Shield Drones (7PL)
HQ - Cadre Fireblade w/ Markerlight (2PL)
HQ - Cadre Fireblade w/ Markerlight (2PL)
HQ - Longstrike w/ Railgun, 2x SMS, 2x Seeker Missiles (11PL)
Troops - 10x Fire Warriors w/ 1x Markerlight; 1x Support Turret w/ Missile Pod (5PL)
Troops - 10x Fire Warriors w/ 1x Markerlight; 1x Support Turret w/ Missile Pod (5PL)
Troops - 10x Fire Warriors w/ 1x Markerlight; 1x Support Turret w/ Missile Pod (5PL)
Troops - 10x Fire Warriors w/ 1x Markerlight; 1x Support Turret w/ Missile Pod (5PL)
Troops - 10x Fire Warriors w/ 1x Markerlight; 1x Support Turret w/ Missile Pod (5PL)
Elites - 3x XV8s w/ 9x Missile Pods; 4x Shield Drones (13PL)
Fast Attack - 10x Pathfinders w/ 7x Markerlights, 3x Rail Rifles (7PL)
Fast Attack - 10x Pathfinders w/ 7x Markerlights, 3x Rail Rifles (7PL)
Heavy Support - Hammerhead Gunship w/ Railgun, 2x SMS; 2x Seeker Missiles (10PL)
Flyer - Sun Shark Bomber w/ 2x Missile Pods; 2x Interceptor Drones (9PL)
Flyer - Sun Shark Bomber w/ 2x Missile Pods; 2x Interceptor Drones (9PL)

Total: 100PL - Command Points: 6 (1 Battalion Detachment, 2 Patrol Detachments)

-

This list costs a happy 2235 points, giving it 112% efficiency compared to a regular 2000pt list! What do you think?
