Hello guys,

this is my first post on Advanced Tau Tactica, very nice to meet you all!!. I would like to present to you my 2000 point Brigade List.

You absolutely have the right idea. Running a Tau Brigade may not be the most competitive choice, but if you want to run one, this is close to the most ideal possible arrangement. A couple things to consider, though:

1. Longstrike cannot take a Relic, as he is a Named Character.
2. The Fire Warrior Shas'ui should probably each have a Markerlight. It's only 18 points, and it allows you to shift your Markerlight burden and give your Pathfinders special weapons.
3. That said, give your Pathfinders special weapons.
4. I liked the addition of the Stealthsuits as a forward unit, but I agree they aren't necessary.
5. You probably don't need so many Gun Drones (especially on the Coldstar), since you already have plenty of anti-infantry. Focus a little more on anti-elite weapons, such as Cyclic Ion Blasters and Ion Rifles.

Here's a few small changes you might want to consider:

-

HQ - Ethereal on Hover Drone w/ Honor Blade (50)
HQ - Commander w/ 4x Fusion Blasters; 2x Shield Drones (176)
HQ - Commander w/ 4x Fusion Blasters; 2x Shield Drones (176)
HQ - Coldstar Commander w/ High-Output Burst Cannon, Missile Pod, Shield Generator, ATS (150)
HQ - Cadre Fireblade w/ Markerlight (42)
HQ - Cadre Fireblade w/ Markerlight (42)
HQ - Longstrike w/ Railgun, 2x Seeker Missiles; 2x Gun Drones (201)
Troops - 5x Fire Warriors w/ Markerlight (43)
Troops - 5x Fire Warriors w/ Markerlight (43)
Troops - 5x Fire Warriors w/ Markerlight (43)
Troops - 5x Fire Warriors w/ Markerlight (43)
Troops - 5x Fire Warriors w/ Markerlight (43)
Troops - 5x Fire Warriors w/ Markerlight (43)
Elites - Firesight Marksman (24)
Elites - Firesight Marksman (24)
Elites - Firesight Marksman (24)
Fast Attack - 5x Pathfinders w/ 2x Markerlights, 3x Ion Rifles; PA Drone, Recon Drone, 2x Shield Drones (88)
Fast Attack - 5x Pathfinders w/ 2x Markerlights, 3x Ion Rifles (52)
Fast Attack - 5x Pathfinders w/ 2x Markerlights, 3x Ion Rifles (52)
Fast Attack - 3x Gun Drones, 1x Shield Drone (32)
Fast Attack - 3x Gun Drones, 1x Shield Drone (32)
Fast Attack - 3x Gun Drones, 1x Shield Drone (32)
Heavy Support - Hammerhead Gunship w/ Railgun, 2x Seeker Missiles; 2x Gun Drones (181)
Heavy Support - Hammerhead Gunship w/ Railgun, 2x Seeker Missiles; 2x Gun Drones (181)
Heavy Support - Hammerhead Gunship w/ Railgun, 2x Seeker Missiles; 2x Gun Drones (181)

Total: 1998 - Command Points: 14 (Supreme Command Detachment, Brigade Detachment, Outrider Detachment)

-

Small change but it could be worth considering. What do you think?

Hi Arka0415,
I love your suggestions! Thank you so much! I noticed that you removed the drone controller. Do you think it is necessary on this list?

Also what do you feel about my current Gun to Shield drone ratio? Esp taking into consideration both taking or not taking a drone controller. And my impression is that Gun drones are OP hence i was taking a lot of them.

I am always a little nervous about putting special weapons on pathfinders due to their squishiness. Wouldnt the QFCs take on elite units quite well too?

:P

In this list you really only have 9 Gun Drones you could synegize with, no XV8-accompanying Gun Drones, and no Marker Drones, so I really don't think its worth it. Instead you can give your Coldstar a Shield Generator, which will make it nearly twice as durable!

Your ratio is good. In my lists I bring 4 Shield Drones an 25 Gun Drones, in your list you have 9 Shield Drones and 17 Gun Drones. At the end of the day you could probably drop the single Shield Drone from the Tactical Drone units, but that would be a tiny modification.

If you are worried about Pathfinders getting focused, feel free to give them a pair of Shield Drones each, or increase the squad size to 6. Otherwise, I would't worry too much- they have Ion Rifles, not Rail Rifles, so they can sit very far back. Ultimately, if they're killed, it's only a loss of 50-odd points.

Sadly, Fusion Commanders are very ineffective against elite infantry. A Fusion Commander deals D6 damage per wound, but normally elite infantry are 2W or 3W, so the firepower is somewhat inefficient. Also, elite infantry (like Terminators) very commonly have invulnerable saves. A Fusion Commander firing at a squad of ordinary Terminators will fire 4 shots, hit 3.33 times, hit 2.78 times, yielding 1.85 wounds. So, you'll kill 1-2 Terminators. A Commander with Cyclic Ion Blasters, on the other hand, should be able to kill 3-5!

Re: 2000 Point Brigade List

Hi guys again, see version 3 of my Brigade List, after receive so many feed backs from you guys as well as Youtubers:

A) Supreme Command Detachment (379 points, 1CP)

HQ:
1. Commander - 3x Missile Pods, 1 Drone Controller (153 Points)
2. Commander - 4x Fusion Blasters, 2 Shield Drones. (176 Points)
3. Ethereal on Hover Drone with Honor Blade (50 Points)

B) Brigade Detachment (1620 Points, 9CP)

HQ:
1. Longstrike - Railgun, 2 Seeker Missiles, 2 Gun Drones (201 Points)
2. Cadre Fireblade (42 Points)
3. Cadre Fireblade (42 Points)

Troops:
1. Strike Team (5 models) - Pulse Rifles with 1 Markerlight (43 points)
2. Strike Team (5 models) - Pulse Rifles with 1 Markerlight (43 points)
3. Strike Team (5 models) - Pulse Rifles with 1 Markerlight (43 points)
4. Strike Team (5 models) - Pulse Rifles with 1 Markerlight (43 points)
5. Strike Team (5 models) - Pulse Rifles with 1 Markerlight (43 points)
6. Strike Team (5 models) - Pulse Rifles with 1 Markerlight (43 points)

Elites:
1. Ghostkeel Battlesuit - Cycilc Ion Raker, 2 Burst Cannons, Early Warning Override, Stimulant Injector, 2 Stealth Drones
(174 Points)
2. Firesight Marksman (24 points)
3. Firesight Marksman (24 points)

Fast Attack:
1. Pathfinder Team (5 models) - 2 Markerlights, 3 Ion Rifles with 1 Recon Drone, 1 Pulse Accelerator Drone and 2 Shield Drones (88 points)
2. Pathfinder Team (5 models) - 5 Markerlights (40 points)
3. Gun Drone Team (6 models) - (48 points)
4. Gun Drone Team (6 models) - (48 points)
5. Gun Drone Team (6 models) - (48 points)
6. Shield Drone Team (5 Models) - (40 points)

Heavy Support:
1. Hammerhead Gunship - Railgun, 2 Seeker Missiles, 2 Gun Drones (181 points)
2. Hammerhead Gunship - Railgun, 2 Seeker Missiles, 2 Gun Drones (181 points)
3. Hammerhead Gunship - Railgun, 2 Seeker Missiles, 2 Gun Drones (181 points)

------------------------------------
Total: 1999 points, 13 Command Points.

1) Now the Idea is that Longstrike and the other 3 Hammerheads try to stay out of range of the opponent as much as possibe. The goal is to protect Longstrike at all costs from direct fire and deep strikers.
2) The Ghostkeel, Drone Teams, Ethereal, the first Cadre Fireblade and Missile Commander will act as a forward unit in front of the Hammerheads to screen for charges and deep strikes from the front. The Ghostkeel has 6+ FNP x2 from Stimulant Injector and Ethereal. Early Warning Override will extend its anti deep strike radius.
3) The Strike Teams, Pathfinders and the second Cadre Fireblade will form a gunline in the flank of the Hammerheads to screen for deep strikers, and act as a strong fire base.
4) The Quad Fusion Commander will be held in Reserves until the right moment to take out a key multiwound target.
5) Against Light Infantry, this list has plenty of S5 shots.
6) Against Elite Infantry, this list has Ghostkeel's Cyclic Ion Raker, Ion Rifles, Missile Commander, and Submunition Rounds from Hammerheads if needed. 8x Seeker Missile can also help here.
7) Against Vehicles, I think Longstrike, and the 3 Hammerheads will do their job. Quad Fusion Commander can hit anybody who is not in line of sight. Seeker Missiles can also help here.

Let me know what you guys think, and what this list might be weak against.
I also wonder which unit should carry the Relic - Puretide Engram Neurochip, as well as warlord trait - Maybe Longstrike?

Cheers Guys
