Fire warrior / Breacher combos 7th vs Smurfs

Hello.

How effective is this vs ultramarines in drop pods

Fire warriors with pulse rifles for long range.

Fire warriors with pulse caribines for pinning.

Then breachers for the finishing touch.

3 full squads.

What other units would work well with this?

Okay in order.
Against drop pod lists: they get wrecked

Pulse Rifles: work decently

Pulse Carbines: Just no.

Breacher: So much yes. Drive close, disembark, unleash hell. Definitely needs a Devilfish to work though.

I don't know how competetive you want to play and whether you plan to play 8th eventually but a Riptide Wing with EWO was able to deal with pretty much anything.
Alternatively Crisis with Plasma Rifles and EWO.

It's a small 1000 point game. Sad to say that I don't have a riptide yet.

What I have access to right now.

3 squads of fire warriors 2 in a box.
I have two broad sides.
Tidewall
Devil fish.
3 crises suits
1 cmdr enforcer
1 squad of path finders still boxed.
Piranha.
Ethearal on drone.

My opponent has access to

up to 5 full tac squads
4 Dev squads
2 razorbacks
1 Rhino
6 Terminators
1 cpt in terminator armor.
2 land raider crusaders
1 bike squad with attack bike
2 land speeders
3 drop pods

2 squads of assualt squads with jump packs 1 without

wait are you trying to destroy the Pods before or after they do the dropping? Before dropping some EWO broadsides with HYMP should do the trick. Longstrike would be good too.
Paint it with marker lights via Pathfinders or a D.C. Commander with marker drones give your Army the reroll 1s.
Or are you worried about the stuff inside? Plasma would take care of most of the stuff he could bring. Some fusion commander to deal with termies would be ideal. But it really depends on what he brings.

So MLs (probably 2-3 sources)
Fusion Commander (or Drone Commander) for anti armor/tank
Plasma Crisis to deal with elite stuff.
Use your troops to deny his Pods.

Ahhh I did miss that.
HH/Longstrike you can use your DFish. It's the same body. Just either pick up the turret bits or proxy it. Actually probably just disregard everything I said then lol.

Lol. Sadly not allowed to proxy for the agreed upon rules.

7th edition - 1000 points- unbound.

The challenge is trying to win with what I can muster.

I suspect my op-pent may use terminators.

And 10 man tac squads in pods. Land speeders.

Not sure he may use assault squads. I anticipate a blitzkrieg. This will be my first game using tau.
