And just in time we're getting the White Scars Chapter tactic (article is not up but someone simply changed the URL :D )

Image

It's very cool as well but not as strong as the Raven Guard Chapter tactic imo. But that's because Bikes itself aren't that great atm and because Bikes can't jump over other units so they can't utilize/abuse the charger after fall back ability that well.

Edit: my bad, it's obviously not just for bikers so they can fall back & charge with Jump Pack units as well. :D

On the topic of bikers:

The White Scars Stratagem, Born in the Saddle, allows White Scars bikers to advance, shoot, and charge, meaning that each biker has a potential threat range of 26″, and you’ll be able to hit your opponent hard before they’re even able to react.

Now this is a proper chapter tactics - fluff, good with what people already have in models and cool!

Can you find the others?

Also: Consider this with Rail technology, that would make it worth

The Imperial Fists one is out there. Ignore cover bonuses when shooting at units in cover. Reroll failed wound when attacking buildings.

Black Templar lets you reroll failed charge rolls.

That Salamanders one will be awesome on Devastator teams- you'll be able to re-roll one of the statistical 1-2 misses you should get. Good stuff.

Imperial Fists though... aren't they famously good at defense? I'd assumed their trait would be defensive.

Anyway, it's clear that these perks will have a real impact on gameplay. Looking forward to the Sept info!

Iron Hands. If they take a wound roll a dice and on a 6+ they ignore the wound. Basically feel no pain 6+

Someone thought I was crazy for giving Kel'shan +1 toughness to represent their hardiness vs siege and alien attacks?

Not because of power level (because honestly, with 8th wound chart, it's not that great), but because I don't see stat changes being a thing.

Looking at marines, none of them has a stat change, not even on attacks (a classic stat change)

It's sorta an in-universe chosmic joke that IF used to be the defense expects, and IW the siege experts, but somewhere along the lines they each became the other, with IF taking siege mastery, yet IW being the defense experts.
Essentially, they each became the very people they hated the most.

I'd want to have that on our side, if it effects tanks.

SPACE MARINE tactics does.

What makes you think every army has the same effect?

Pretty sure tau won't have bikes and dreads, for example.

Probably infantry, suits and maybe drones. but tanks are technically possible.

Salamander CT is extremely potent for MSU squads, and particularly for Dreadnoughts and Veteran Dreadnoughts.

It isn't useful at all for infantry-clearing - too bad SM don't have any units at all that can do that with even a modicum of efficiency.

Biggest winners, IMO, would be Devastator Squads, Dreadnoughts, and MSU Deepstriking combi-weapon squads (Terminators, among others).

The single model that benefits the most, however, would have to be the Veteran Dreadnought. With its native BS of 2+, and rerolling the average 1 miss, it will be fairly rare that the Dread doesn't successfully hit every single hit (Think 4MP Commander with MLs levels of accuracy), and the Vet Dread can even reroll a failed wound on top of it! Give him a Lascannon or two, and you've basically got a cheaper, significantly more effective HRR or HYMP Broadside.

Salamander CT is strong indeed, but very lame compared to Raven Guard, Ultramarine and White Scars...but then again so are the others. Guess there is only so much one can do with Chapter Tactics to change how an army plays.
