What different tactics do you employ against different armies in 8th Edition?

I'm sure we're all familiar with the "destroy Necron squads one by one" tactic, but what other tactics have you learned to use against the different factions in 8th Edition? Are there any other tricks, tactics, and maneuvers that are particularly effective against certain enemies?

Assuming you use the same army list each time, how do you change your tactics when facing different armies?

Well not much to be honest.
AdMech (mostly Skitarii):
- ignore the Techpriest since he is too hard to crack and can heal himself every turn anyway. He doesn't do much on his own either
- try to tie up Onager, Techpriest and similar shooty units in melee asap...and stay there unless you are sure you can nuke that unit this turn!
- Nuking Kastellan with Longstrike and Seeker Missiles turn 1 is actually quite viable

Tyranids (haven't played against a list with brains in 8th yet):
- try to get rid of Warriors and Hive Guards as fast as you can. They carry a Tyranid army due being durable infantry (yes they are infantry), with decent/good weaponry and Synapse.
- big monsters look scary but our Suits can tank them in melee quite some time actually. Especially with Drones nearby.
- don't underestimate gaunts but also don't make them a high priority target

Space Wolves:
- focus fire on mean and fast melee units and keep the shooty ones busy with Stealth Suits and Vespid (so basically as always :D )

That's pretty much my regular group. We have Astra Militarum, Deathwatch and Harlequins as well but I haven't played against those yet.

If you ever go up against custodes, run fast in the opposite direction and get 2 skyrays plus some markerlights. Mortal wound are great against them. Orks, use lots of fire warriors + pulse accelerator drones and gun drones. Screen to avoid charges. That's pretty much it.

Also, don't be afraid to charge your suits into combat. Riptide with ATS is tough as nails and quite powerful if it hits in melee.

That's changing the list depending on who you play, not using different tactics with the same roster.

Stuff I've encountered up to yesterday:

Space Wolves: destroy their transports asap so their stuff inside will have to walk towards your lines. Some Breachers will help here against their melee force

Astra Militarum: have EWO and/or bubble-wrap your lines so Tempestus won't arrive near your juicy things. Kill the transports (tauroxes and chimeras are quite cheap) and the order-giver units

Eldar: KILL. THE. DARK. REAPERS. / STAY. AWAY. FROM. THE. AVATAR OF KHAINE (it has a melee melta weapon and 5 attacks at WS 2+).

Tyranids:
- focus on the Hormagaunts, then warriors. Hormagaunt move speed makes them deadly, and their large numbers can overwhelm you faster than those of the warriors.
- If opponent brings swarmlord size biomorph, prioritise firing of battlesuit weapons on creature
- Eliminate enemy as they advance. move back and to the sides to avoid brunt of the charge.

Ad Mech Skitarii
- Focus on advancing under fire. Use cover to move into 30" range. Since Skitarii have longer range infantry weapons, try to take out vanguard first.
- Ignore Dune-crawlers till last. New rules make their large cannon ineffective without the blast template (at least in my experience).

Dark Eldar:
-Focus on the units with splinter cannons/rifles and on any jetbikes/skimmers. Ignore any HQ units, as our ways to character-kill are not very effective. Try to keep within areas with lots of avaliable cover, and try not to engage at Close Range.

Deathwatch (with Corvus Blackstar)
- Kill the Blackstar. That is the prime objective.
- Focus on dreadnoughts, terminators and librarians. Ignore space marines until they reach bolter range. then beat the crap out of them with plasma rifles.

Chaos Space Marines:
Haven't played since 7th ended.

Necrons:
- Kill them over and over until they all die. Reanimation protocols are annoying, but beatable.
- Prioritise fire on any scarabs. The damm critters swarm you in groups of 4 and can be extremely deadly if they get close. (of course, that classifies pretty much every enemy army and unit).

Imperial Guard:
Haven't played in 7th or 8th. Played once in 5th.
For the Tau'va ATT!!!
