Greeting's Tau, it's been some time away from the Great Sphere of Tau but we are back to upgrade our forces. And apply some spiffy new paint!

Here I'd like to share a few photos and steps for my Ghostkeel Battlesuit Paint. Just starting today!

Cheers,
Linc

Welcome back to the Orbital. We've had a few upgrades and a lick or two of paint since your last visit!

thanks Fio'O, its been a really long time. Hope you've been well. :)

A new time, a new name but thank you for remembering and it's nice to an Aun again, an Aun'O at that!

Though now in retirement it's more fun to spend time down with the Fio and tinkering. :P

It's been really nice to get back to using water based acrylics again and this type of clean, detail painting although I've still used a mixed media approach. For things like solid white and wanting the glossy, ceramic look I couldn't resist.

More again soon,
Cheers!

thanks tekkenotik! I plan to stay close to the box art, just to keep it simple and feel my way back into the 40k/Tau vibe. Plus it's brand new for me, have never really put this combination together before. It's quite a classic!

Welcome back Aun'o

That looks really good, makes me want to build another Ghostkeel (but there are already so many boxes under my table that I haven't started yet ...)

Greeting's Tau'Va!

Almost there. A few rounds of different processes and then, lights on! Next steps will be some groundwork on a base, thanks for looking.

I like it very much!
Great video, too.

I'm stuck with acrylics, so I have a question.
Is the t's-7 racing white you used like an off white (say from Vallejo)?

thanks!!

Colour wise, yes. T-07 and Vallejo Off-white are quite close. But in terms of finish, they are very different. But you know, use what you can get.

I agree, It's been well worth becoming a supporter for this level of tuition. I know it's not quite the classic GW paint style but even now they are moving towards this aesthetic finish. It's the chemistry I find the most interesting, using different types of paints to achieve the effects and keep a barrier between layers and stages. It's mind blowing! Also how different levels of lustre add weight, texture and gravity. It's easy to miss this in still images and I'm sure would be even better to witness in person but it makes the videos just that bit special.

Tau'Va! Thanks guys, I knew of all places that the forward thinking Orbital would "get it".

Let me but up front about something though, these processes will be difficult to micro down. Crisis suits and maybe Gundrones will be the smallest models I would go about this way.

For FW's and other highly detailed but small surface area pieces, the GW way is never a bad idea.

Thanks again guys, I sadly need to move away from my beloved Tau minis for a month - I'm doing a guest demo at the Gunpla Builders World Cup in Sydney August 2017 and need to get a Gunpla model ready - in a hurry too!

If any of you will be there, please come up and say "hey, I'm from ATT!" Would be awesome to meet you. I'm on at 2pm and will stay on the Q and A. Would be funny if someone asked about Tau modelling - hint!! :P
