Charcoal/Dark Grey for Stealthsuits

I'm looking for a match to the color of the cowl on this Stealthsuit:

Image

I'm trying to paint my Stealthsuits pretty exactly as pictured- charcoal or very dark grey armor over black mechanical bits, with dark red shoulder plates and head. These colors are still in fitting with the general T'au Sept paint scheme, but include no white or ochre as those colors stand out too much.

I know there's no Citadel color that matches it, so are there any good dark/charcoal colors from other vendors?

Thanks!

I think you might like Vallejo German Grey -- it's quite dark, but definitely not black.

A non shiny black should be good enough to achieve that goal.

Try a matt black base with a Shadow Grey drybrush.

The Citadel paint app has some good suggestions listed under black and under grey as well.

I've been thinking about that, but I'm afraid it wouldn't look uniform. Have you tried something like that?

You could do a light grey and then put a heavy nuln oil wash onto it. I do it with a dark blue/gray when I want a black with some nice subtle shading in there too. I imagine a light grey would darken to a dark grey and give you some nice lowlighting in the recesses of the armor. If you wanted it a bit brighter then you could always do a light drybrush a little to lighten it up.

One easy solution is mixing black and dark gray on wet palette, that way you get the shade that fits your taste and you can use the mixed colour for few days/weeks afaik

All the black parts on my suits are done with this method along with my Ravenwing. It has the added bonus of edge highlighting at the same time.
