PDTR won't really trigger.

Being a flyer you can't be charged at anyway, and being high up and having to move too much means your odds of actually being in supporting fire range is extremely low.

So far I found no reason to invest in any upgrades for the barracuda. Except maybe the CiBs

Anyone considering or think it's possible to use this without DFTS supplement rules?

Well, yeah. Just ignore the supplement stuff and use it like any other flyer. Basic stats are still there.

Considering it's designation's rules are pretty much "just like before DFTS planes", its actually one and the same to consider it in each.

Huh. I thought the rear disc was labeled as a Chaff Drone. I don't see any reference to that in the flavor or rules. Must be a dispersion shield?

Ask FW about it. Maybe it will be in the rulebook?

That's definitely what it was called by the designer

There is also text that says long barreled CIB's as well. Should definitely ask them.

You are like the tenth person I saw saying this, despite the text does not in any point says "Long barreled cyclic ion blaster", at all.

It does though.

Oh definitely knew it said LB CIB's. I just wasn't sure where I seen it. Maybe if ten people tell you something it might be worth investigating in the future. Thanks panzer.

Description text also says "Heavy Burst cannon", not "Barracuda Heavy ...", BHBC is Heavy 6, HBC is Heavy 8: the Barracuda version loose two shots.
It says too that the wing "turrets" are Gun Drones with LBBC or CIB, so you may detach them as any other vehicle drones...
Nothing in rules though...

It almost sounds like they wanted to have a variant.

Nah i bet my money on the text of the page of the shop simply being wrong. The one who wrote it probably didn't pay enough attention and did it in a hurry.

On a pan-flat table you would have to have a wing almost overhanging your unit for PDTR to work, perhaps I am just lucky that I hardly ever play on tables that boring. With a bit of terrain it is no problem, my infantry spend a lot of time in the upper levels of ruins 6" above ground level.

Good reminder by Vector Strike on the Stalkers, the low cost of the Decoy Launchers could be well worth it if Stalkers are reasonably common in your local area.

I am pretty sure Pilky quoted the names from the instructions that come with the model and those match the narrative text on the FW page. The rules writing probably happened later and whoever did that decided to change it.

Yeah, it lists them as Long Barrelled CIBs on two separate pages of the instructions
